We would like to share ideas on the publication “The association between COVID-19 vaccination and idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss, clinical manifestation and outcomes [1].” Fisher et al. compared the clinical symptoms and outcomes of patients who had received vaccinations vs. those who had not [1] to evaluate the incidence at their center. Fisher et al. discovered that the incidence of ISSNHL in 2021 increased significantly at our medical center, with 25% of cases occurring within 1 month of receiving anti-COVID-19 vaccination [1]. According to Fisher et al., there was no discernible difference between patients who had received vaccinations and those who had not in terms of clinical symptoms and outcomes [1]. Fisher et al. came to the conclusion that more research was required, since, despite the possibility of finding other explanations, an association could not be ruled out [1].

The COVID-19 vaccine may cause an adverse reaction, and the diagnosis can occasionally be challenging. The current report may or may not list COVID-19’s side effect of idiopathic abrupt sensorineural hearing loss. The absence of pre-vaccination information on the recipients' health and hearing status makes it difficult to make a conclusive determination regarding the vaccine's negative effects. A risk of asymptomatic COVID-19, a prevalent clinical issue, is also present [2]. The COVID-19 is a known cause of hearing loss, and the vaccine recipient may have asymptomatic COVID-19 before or after receiving the vaccination [3].
