Upconversion and optical thermometry in Ho3+:TeO2 glass, effect of addition of PbO2 and BaCO3

Abstract

Intense new upconversion has been observed at 525 nm in addition to those reported earlier when Ho3+ doped tellurite glass is pumped with 890-nm NIR radiation. The effect of the addition of PbO2/BaCO3 in Ho3+:LiTeO2 glass on upconversion emission and its use as a temperature sensor were studied. It is found that these additives improve the performance of these glasses.
