Cascaded frequency doubling and electro-optic coupling in a single optical superlattice

Abstract

Frequency doubling and electro-optic (EO) coupling are cascaded in a single optical superlattice due to simultaneous modulation of nonlinear and EO coefficients. The coupling equations are deduced and analyzed, and simulations in both periodic and quasi-periodic structures are presented. The results show that both polarization and magnitude of the second harmonic can be manipulated by an external DC electric field, which is useful when simultaneous frequency conversion and signal tuning are desired.
