Low-frequency dynamical response of confined water in normal and supercooled regions obtained by IINS

Abstract.

We analyzed incoherent inelastic neutron scattering spectra of water confined in a nanoporous Gelsil matrix, with very small pore diameter (26 Å). The study is addressed to the evolution of the one-phonon amplitude-weighted proton vibrational density of states, Z(ω), when the water loses its peculiar bulk properties and originates a new structural environment due to its surface interactions.
