This text is a guide for a correct interpretation of normal skeletal maturation in children at different ages. Despite the advent of modern cross-sectional imaging, skeletal radiographs still remain one of the most frequently performed imaging modalities in paediatric patients to manage a multitude of endocrine disorders, paediatric syndromes or trauma. Only a comprehensive interpretation of radiological signs of skeletal maturation allow us to orient ourselves in the wide spectrum of bone diseases in childhood. The editors are all internationally recognized experts in skeletal radiology, and the late Dr. Theodore E. Keats was a pioneer in earlier efforts to illustrate normal roentgen anatomy. The editors had the capability to define and determine a homogeneous illustration giving this volume a detailed representation of skeletal maturation in childhood. The book is organized into two parts, divided by sex, each one characterized by X-rays of various body parts, from the skull to the foot, admirably summarized in different stages of skeletal maturation ranging from neonate to 21 years old. The goal has been to provide a comprehensive interpretation of skeletal maturation using a convenient representation of radiograms.
