Abstract

The q − u curves under damped oscillatory impulses are observed experimentally in a corona cage. An analysis for the experimental results is made with an emphasis on the difference between the q − u curves under damped oscillatory and double exponential impulses. Based on the experimental investigation, a corona model is proposed to calculate the q − u curves under damped oscillatory impulses. Charge, electric field and voltage are related macroscopically in the model. The model parameters can be determined by the measured data under double exponential impulses. The calculated results are compared with the experimental ones and a reasonable agreement is shown between them.
