Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze the influence of the working parameters in the micromachining process of stainless steel 316L and Ti6Al4V by means of a 355nm Nd:YVO4 nanosecond laser. Our target is the surface texturing of biometallic implants to favor osseointegration. With this purpose, well-organized structures, a matrix of pits, and a pattern of grooves were created under different laser parameters and irradiation schemes on metallic surface. Processed metal surfaces were characterized by confocal microscopy and scanning electron microscopy to establish the most adequate processing parameters to generate textured sizes in a range suitable for biomedical applications.
