Abstract

A stimulating one-day symposium on “Project Initiation and Termination; Moments of Decision”, sponsored by the TMS Engineering Management Committee, was held on October 16, 1968 during the Fall Meeting of The Metallurgical Society in Detroit, Michigan. In order to promote free and candid presentation of actual procedures and case histories there was no requirement that the papers be written or released for publication. Therefore, at the request of the editor the following summary of the meeting has been prepared. The writer is grateful for the assistance of the speakers and other committee members in preparing this summary. However, he takes full responsibility if he has not been completely successful in eliminating his personal viewpoints from his reporting of controversial topics.
