Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers-Functional Applications

Abstract

In this paper we review functional applications of semiconductor optical amplifiers. For example, wavelength conversion, optical demultiplexing, and optical logic elements are discussed, which are attractive from the point of view of potential applications in all-optical networks and optical time division multiplexed systems.
