Abstract

Particulate filter systems which meter fuel into the exhaust system offer benefits at many operating points. The injected diesel fuel is catalytically converted in the oxidation catalytic converter. It is vital to have a very responsive system, which enables rapid controllability while the vehicle is in operation. This paper from J. Eberspächer describes a system for injecting fuel into the exhaust system which works without any engine-related measures and which represents the prototype of an independent active regeneration aid for vehicles with diesel particulate filters.
