Abstract
Oil modules play an essential role in the fluid management system of internal combustion engines. For these modules, technical plastics are increasingly replacing aluminium or steel because they are lighter, more flexible and above all cheaper. This article describes the development of the oil module from Mann+Hummel, which is integrated into the new 2.0-litre four-cylinder FSI petrol engine of Audi and Volkswagen. The housing is made completely of heat-resistant and pressure-resistant plastic.
