Abstract

The natural refrigerant CO2 (R744) protects the environment and increases the paßenger comfort in the vehicle. However, the route to serial production is arduous: Due to the media characteristics of CO2, it provides a couple of challenges for the components of the refrigerant loop. Redesigning R134a components is neceßary and in certain cases, completely new developments are required. This article from Witzenmann describes the development of permeation tight air conditioning hoses for the CO2 A/C system.
