Investigation of spontaneously broken gauge theories

I. General structure and renormalization

Abstract

In a series of papers we investigate spontaneously broken gauge theories, having in mind mainly applications to effects which may be treated perturbatively. In this Part we exhibit the general structure of SBGT’s and set up a gauge invariant renormalization program for practical calculations by extending the proof of renormalizability ofLee andZinn-Justin to our general case.
