Abstract
The sodium fluorescein adsorption of oxide layers formed on aluminium surfaces gives layer phosphors emitting green light under the excitation of high-pressure mercury vapour lamps. The intensity and energy distribution of the light depends on the physical and chemical structure of the layer. It has been established that the activation of the oxide hydrate layers happens by chemosorption and that there is a relation between the hydration of the oxide surface and the energy distribution of the emission.
