Abstract
A few characteristic details of the excited states of the nucleus are investigated in the simplest case. On the basis of the assumption of a repelling interaction of short range between the nucleons, a „self-volume” corresponds to the nucleon. The existence of the self-volume modifies the formulae of ordinary Fermi statistics. Better agreement with experience than hitherto is obtained for the excited states of nuclei.
