Abstract
In het kader van de toenemende vergrijzing in Nederland staat onderzoek naar verschillende aspecten van dementie volop in de belangstelling. Een van de opvallendste kenmerken van dementie wordt gevormd door geheugenproblemen. Ook bij normale veroudering uiten mensen vaak geheugenklachten. In het beginstadium van dementie is het verschil met bij de leeftijd behorende geheugenproblemen dan ook niet eenvoudig. Veel mensen maken zich ten onrechte ongerust of ze dement aan het worden zijn, terwijl bij mensen die de ziekte wel hebben deze relatief laat wordt vastgesteld.

Drie MMSE scores, zoals bekend van het LASA onderzoek, werden bij deze indeling op T1 betrokken om groepsindeling op basis van een incidenteel zwakke prestatie te vermijden. De gehanteerde MMSE range was 21-25.
De test bestond uit het leren, in drie trials via ‘cued recall’, van vijf semantisch gerelateerde woordparen (bv. pijp ’ sigaar) en vijf ongerelateerde woordparen (bv. nagel ’ boter).
