Abstract
Wereldwijd lopen de schattingen voor de erfelijkheid van intelligentie uiteen van 60 tot 80% (Bouchard & McGue, 1981). Een hoge erfelijkheid impliceert dat verschillen tussen personen in intelligentie voornamelijk zijn toe te schrijven aan verschillen tussen personen in erfelijke aanleg en in mindere mate aan verschillen in de omgeving. ‘Erfelijke aanleg’ of ‘omgeving’ zijn echter zeer globale begrippen; het is nog steeds niet bekend welke genen van belang zijn voor intelligentie en volgens welke neurofysiologische routes deze genen de intelligentie beïnvloeden.
