Samenvatting

Beide boeken handelen direct of (ook) indirect over Ralph R. Greenson, een bekende en vermaarde Amerikaanse psychiater en psychoanalyticus, die ook de behandelaar was van Marilyn Monroe. Het eerste boek, geschreven door Greensons discipelen en opgedragen aan Ralph R. Greenson als ‘extraordinary clinician, creative scholar, and inspiring teacher’ (p. VI), hemelt de auteur eenduidig op, terwijl in Spoto's biografie Ralph Greenson ‘het echte zwarte schaap is in de kudde rond Monroe’ (Ferdinandusse, 1993, p. 75). In het eerste boek dus bewondering voor en idealisering van een ongetwijfeld begaafd (opleidings)psychoanalyticus die diverse boeken en artikelen publiceerde.
