Dit artikel beschrijft de behandeling van verkrachtingsfantasieën van een zedendelinquent. Afwijkende seksuele fantasieën kunnen bij zedendelinquenten worden beschouwd als impliciete planning naar een delict. Daders van seksueel misbruik blijken een negatief zelfbeeld te hebben en een disfunctionele vorm van zelfregulatie. Interpersoonlijke conflicten en een negatieve stemming blijken tot meer afwijkende fantasieën te leiden. In zo’n fantasie kunnen seksuele delinquenten tijdelijk de controle herwinnen, wat meestal gepaard gaat met machtsmisbruik. Het doel van de therapie is zelfmanagement. In eerste instantie leert de cliënt verantwoordelijkheid te nemen voor zijn gedrag en controle te krijgen over zijn afwijkende fantasie. Dit gebeurt door contraconditionering, de gedachtestop en inwendige sensitisatie. In een latere fase worden ook zijn zelfvertrouwen en copingvaardigheden verder ontwikkeld, zodat hij niet meer terug hoeft te vallen in disfunctionele coping in de vorm van afwijkende seksuele fantasieën.
