semenvatting
Summary
Separate factor analyses of the WISC–R intelligence test usually reveal three robust factors: verbal comprehension, perceptual organisation and freedom from distraction. This paper discusses the results of a joint factor analysis, by means of LISREL, of the Dutch WISC–R version in combination with a group intelligence test, i.e. the Denk 23(4). The results of this study show that the VC factor of the WISC–R implies an important knowledge and/or communication element, whereas the third WISC–R factor splits up into a speed factor and a numerical ability factor. No evidence was found of the importance of manipulative ability in the PO subtests of the WISC–R. It is recommended that WISC–R not be used for analytical purposes, but should be restricted to the interpretation of statements on general intelligence.
