The chemical composition of the lamellibranchDonax cuneatus Linn

  • Published:
Proceedings / Indian Academy of Sciences

Summary

It is observed that with an increase in the weight of the animal, there is also an increase in the water, ash and carbohydrate content. The fat content ofDonax is found to be remarkably low. Further, whereas only eight amino acids are detected in the free form, thirteen amino acids are recognised in the hydrolysate of the tissues.
