Abstract
Severalo-hydroxychalcones were examined to develop specific reagents for copper(II) ion. Among them the readily obtainable 2′-hydroxychalcone is proposed as a new specific reagent for its conductometric determination. This method was applied for the determination of copper in brass and chalcopyrite. The results were in good agreement with those obtained by the thiocyanate method. The structure proposed for the complex is supported by evidence from I.R. spectral data.
