Summary
In the attempt to diminish the acid gastric secretion by the use of centrally acting emetics, we studied apomorphine, apocodeine, emetine, and quinine. With subemetic doses we were able to decrease the total acid output over the period of observation. However, in order to decrease the height of titratable acidity emetic doses had to be used. These drugs, therefore, are of no practical value in clinical use for diminishing the concentration of the acid secreted by the stomach.
