Abstract
A fairly rich ammonite fauna is described for the first time from the Shir-Kuh area. The ammonites represent 18 genera and 31 species. The Desmoceratidae dominate clearly with 62 % beside the Hamitidae with 28%. The remaining fauna shares only 10%. The fauna contains some cosmopolitan elements, but nevertheless is closely related to Europe.
