Renal angiography in the evaluation of renal parenchymal, traumatic, and neoplastic diseases causing secondary hypertension

  • Published:
Urologic radiology

Abstract

Renal arteriography is a sensitive method for the diagnosis of renal parenchymal disease and for discovery of associated renal arterial occlusive lesion. Traumatic renal lesions accompanying hypertension should be evaluated by arteriographic studies after an excretory urogram. Secondary hypertension is rarely encountered in renal neoplastic disease, and angiography with renal vein renin assay is diagnostic.
