HLA status in IgA nephropathy

Summary

Twenty-five Irish patients with IgA nepropathy were typed for HLA antigens of the A and B loci. There was a high frequency of HLA-B7 (56%), but this was not significant when corrected for the number of antigens tested. Clarification of the role of genetic influences in IgA nepropathy awaits determination of antigen frequencies of the D locus.
