Summary

The behaviour of Chlorella cells in some redox indicator solutions was studied. The reaction of the cells to the presence of redox varies at different stages of their life cycle. The morphogenesis of the chondriome during the life cycle of the cells can be deduced from staining changes in the redox indicators within the cells and from aggregation of the cell structures. At one stage of the life cycle of the cell, the basophilic chondriome is situated between the cell walls. In the presence of a suitable redox indicator the mitochondria are the main visible carrier of the reaction. The existence of a peripheral chondriome is typical for multiplication by resting autospores with cell membranes.
