A mechanical electrometer as noise spectrum analyzer

  • Published:
Applied Scientific Research, Section B

Summary

A theoretical description is presented of the behaviour of a mechanical electrometer biased withac voltage instead ofdc voltage and this theoretical analysis is checked experimentally. It is shown that such an “ac electrometer” can also be used as a spectral noise analyzer, the small bandwidth of which is essentially independent of the analyzing frequency. The experimental setup and the necessary auxiliary electronic equipment is described in some detail.
