Summary
An equilibrium theory of the length of intense electron bunches circulating in a storage ring is presented. The consequcnce of electrical interaction with various resonant structures is expressed in terms of quadratures over the impedance of the structures, and impedance functions for a variety of elements are evaluated. I t is shown that elements having resonances at high frequency call, above transition, cause bunches to increase in length with increasing current. The parametric dependence of the bunch lengthening is found to be in good agreement with observations, and numerical estimates, which are in substantial agreement with experiment are presented.

Si presenta una teoria sulle condizioni di equilibrio della lunghezza dei pacchetti di elettroni, ad alta intensità di carica, circolanti in un anello di accumulazione. La conseguenza dell’interazione elettrica del pacchetto con varie strutture risonanti è espressa in termini di quadrature sull’impedenza delle strutture, e si calcolano le impedenze di alcune strutture. Si mostra che elementi aventi risonanze ad alta frequenza possono causare, al di sopra della transizione, un aumento della lunghezza dei pacchetti con l’aumentare della corrente. Si trova che la dipendenza parametrica dell’allungamento dei pacchetti è in buon accordo con le osservazioni. Si presentano stime numeriche dell’effetto che sono in sostanziale accordo con i dati sperimentali.

Предлагается теори⤦ равновесия для интенсивных злектронных сгустков, циркулирующих в накопительном кольце. Резулвтат олектронного взаимодействия с различными резонансными структурами выражается в квадратурах от импеданса зтой структуры. Вычисляются импедансные функции для множества злементов. Показывается, что злементы, имеющие резона нсы при высокой частоте, могут приводить к уведичению дли↭ы сгустков при возра стании тока. Обнаружено, что параметрическая зависимостб удлинения сгустка хорошо согласуется с данными наблюдений. Приводятся численные оценки, которые, в основном, согласуются с зкспериментом.
