Summary
We generalize an expression for the trace of an operator due to Nishijima and derive, without the use of tedious mathematics, the Kirkwood expansion for the quantum-mechanical partition function. This expansion is applied to three simple systems and its use for more complex systems is thereby made clear.

Si generalizza un’espressione per la traccia di un operatore dovuta a Nishijima e si deduce, senza l’uso di tediosa matematica, lo sviluppo di Kirkwood per la funzione di partizione quantomeccanica. Si applica questo sviluppo a tre semplici sistemi o si chiarisce quindi il suo uso per sistemi più complessi.
