A study of the51V(n, n′γ)51V reaction

Summary

The results of a measurement of the51V(n, n′γ)51V reaction are presented for incident-neutron energies ranging from 1.3 MeV to 3.9 MeV. The pulsed-beam time-of-flight technique was used to obtain a good discrimination between neutrons and de-excitation γ-rays, which were collected by means of a true coaxial Ge(Li) detector. In this way the levels and the decay scheme of the51V nucleus were determined and, through the comparison of the measured excitation functions with the predictions of the statistical theory of the compound nucleus,J π assignments were proposed and compared with the results reported in the literature.

Si presentano i risultati di uno studio della reazione51V(n, n′γ)51V, per energie dei neutroni incidenti comprese fra 1.3 MeV e 3.9 MeV. Si è usata la tecnica del tempo di volo col fascio pulsato per ottenere una buona discriminazione tra neutroni e raggi γ di diseccitazione, che venivano rivelati da un rivelatore al Ge(Li). In questo modo si è determinato lo schema di decadimento del51V, e attraverso il confronto delle funzioni di eccitazione misurate con le previsioni della teoria statistica del nucleo composto si propongono e discutono i possibili valori delJ π dei livelli in relazione a quelli riportati in letteratura.

В работе приводятся результаты измерений реакции51V(n, n′γ)51V при энергиях падающих нейтронов в области от 1.3 МэВ до 3.9 МэВ. Используется временипролетная техника с импульсным пучком для получения хорошей дискриминации между нейтронами и γ-лучами девозбуждения, которые регистрируются с помощью коаксиального Ge(Li) детектора. С помощью предложенной методики определяются уровни и схема распада ядер51V. Сравнивая измеренные функции возбуждения с предсказаниями статистической теории составных ядер, предлагаются возможные значенияJ π для уровней и сравниваются с результатами, имеющимися в литературе.
