Conclusion

The group of RNA phages represents an interrelated group of viruses closely similar in their biological, biophysical and chemical properties. Some of their biological properties, in particular the male specificity and interaction with the host cell, are quite unusual in the hitherto known phages. It cannot be determined without uncertainty whether we are dealing here with virulent or temperate phages in the usual sense of the word.

The sex specificity and the character of interaction is similar to those in the filamentous DNA phages but in all other respects they are distinct.
