On the role of pH in the sporulation ofSaccharomyces cerevisiae

Abstract

It was demonstrated that sporulation can take place under certain conditions even at an acid pH. The lack of sporulation generally found at acid pH values appears to be due to the absence of acetic acid oxidation or to an insufficient quantity of acetic acid present.
