Abstract

5,5′-dithiodisalicylhydroxamic acid (dtdsha) has been synthesized and its solubility in water at different temperatures, spectral characteristics, andpK a values are reported. The reactivity with inorganic ions, in aqueous media, by extraction with benzenic solution of trioctylmethylammonium chloride (Adogen 464), and on ion-exchange resins have been investigated. Its low selectivity can be increased by appropriate control of pH, the use of masking agents, or by extraction.
