Summary
In the seriesMegistacroloba of the genusSolanum meiosis was regular usually having 12 bivalents at diakinesis and metaphase I in five species and 13 interspecific hybrids. The one exception wasS. toralapanum in which two clones had a high frequency of univalents at diakinesis and metaphase I.
Two species,S. raphanifolium andS. sogarandinum, exhibited a unilateral crossing pattern with the other species. F2 seed was obtained from sib-matings in all but three of the hybrids.
