Abstract

Tetraploid Grindelia camporum was selected for increased crude resin yield for a period of 2 yr. The observed response to selection, 0.8% of the aboveground dry weight/yr, was highly significant. Differences in resin yield between plants at different phenological stages were also highly significant. The selected line showed some signs of inbreeding depression in comparison to a control line, including lower dry-weight production and higher mortality.
