Mesonic effects in the nuclear response

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento A (1965-1970)

Summary

The features of the nuclear response to a spin-isospin-sensitive proble are explored. A marked contrast at intermediate momenta (q≈(1÷1.5) fm−1) is predicted between the spin-longitudinal and the spin-transverse responses. The existing data in the σ×q channel, from inelastic electron scattering, are compatible with our theory. Finally the nuclear paramagnetic susceptibility is studied with the inverse sum rule method and conjectured to have a universal behaviour forq≳1 fm−1.
