Recent attempts of improving the mechanical properties of AISI 4340 steel by control of microstructure — A brief review

  • Published:
Journal of Materials for Energy Systems

Abstract

The microstructural features such as cleanliness, defect density, and phase morphology play important roles in the fracture process and these microstructural variables can be controlled by steel refining and heat treatment techniques. Some of the recent attempts of improving the mechanical properties of AISI 4340 steel by controlling the microstructural features mentioned above have been briefly reviewed.
