Summary
Linear equations, constructed from quantities transforming according to the same representations of the Lorentz group as those making up Maxwell's equations, are used to investigate the effect of a photon mass on the existence of monopoles. For stable point particlesand one kind of photon it is shown that isolated monopoles cannot exist. Dirac strings are employed in the proof.
