Decaying quantum-mechanical states: An informal discussion within stochastic mechanics

  • Published:
Lettere al Nuovo Cimento (1971-1985)

Summary

With the aid of a simple example we illustrate how to approach decaying quantum-mechanical states from the point of view of stochastic mechanics. The life-time and the time scale over which the decay is exponential are naturally related to typical quantities describing the behaviour of the associated diffusion processes.
