Spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetries

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento A (1965-1970)

Summary

The spontaneous breaking of chiralU 3×U 3 symmetry down toU 1×U 1×U 1 is studied from the in-field point of view. It is shown that the original symmetry undergoes a dynamical rearrangement and thus the observational symmetry,i.e. the symmetry of in-fields, assumes a totally different structure from that of the Heisenberg fields. As its application, the low-energy theorems are derived. The generalization of this method for higher symmetries is also discussed.
