Oral bacteriology of normal newborns during the first seven days of life

Summary

A study of 225 healthy neonates showed the presence of some bacteria in the throat in the majority during the first 7 days of life. Both pathogenic and nonpathogenic bacteria were grown. In some, up to 5 different types were recovered.
