Gamma-ray transition between 9 and 8 levels in178Hf measured in178Ta 2.45 h decay

Il Nuovo Cimento A (1965-1970)

Summary

A gamma-ray transition in the decay of the178Ta 2.45 h isomer with an energy of (216.7±0.1) keV and half-life (3±1) h was detected. This transition was interpreted as taking place between the 9 and 8 levels of178Hf. Intraband transition intensity rules and possible Nilsson configurations determine the value 7 for the spin and parity of178Ta 2.45 h.
