Analytic equivalence of the Gupta-Bleuler formalism and of anS-matrix formalism for processes involving photons

Summary

This paper studies the equivalence of the analyticity properties whether formulated in anS-matrix formalism introduced by Zwanziger or in the usual quantum electrodynamical formalism. Although the description of the photon appears completely different in these two formalisms, the mentioned equivalence is established for interactions of a single photon with hadrons, with exception of the case where the hadrons interact with magnetic monopoles.

In questo articolo si studia l'equivalenza delle proprietà di analiticità formulate sia nel formalismo della matriceS introdotto da Zwanziger sia nell'usuale formalismo dell'elettrodinamica quantistica. Sebbene la descrizione del fotone appaia completamente diversa in questi due formalismi, si conferma la suddetta equivalenza per interazioni di un solo fotone con gli adroni, salvo il caso in cui gli adroni interagiscono con monopoli magnetici.

В этой статье исследуется эквивалентность аналитических свойств, сформулированных в формализмеS-матрицы, введенном Цванцигером, и в формализме обычной квантовой электродинамики. Хотя описание фотона оказывается полностью различным в этих двух формализмах, указанная эквивалентность устанавливается для взаимодействий отделяного фотона с адронами, за исключением случая, когда адроны взаимодействуют с магнитными монополями.
