The strong decays ϱ→2π and Δ→Nπ in the MIT bag model

Summary

Strong-interaction processes with soft-pion emission such as, for example, ϱ+→π+π0 and Δ++→pπ+ are discussed by means of the MIT bag model. We obtain for these decay widths the values Γϱ→2π=107 MeV and ΓΔ→Nπ=72 MeV. We thus conclude that inclusion of relativistic corrections appreciably modifies the nonrelativistic quark model results for ϱ+→π+π0, while in the case of Δ++→pπ+ it does not significantly alter the classical quark model prediction.
