Summary
We calculate the Casimir energy of a bosonicp-brane (p-dimensional object) and regularize it by a zeta-function based on Fujikawa-Kubo’s formulation. We further show, starting with the Polyakov-type action, that the contribution from the longitudinal components of thep-brane variables is cancelled by Faddeev-Popov ghosts.
