Abstract
Presently accepted mechanisms of anodic dissolution of homogeneous metal alloys—uniform dissolution, pseudoselective dissolution, and selective dissolution with phase conversion in the surface layer— have a unified physicochemical basis. The relative contribution of one or another mechanism depends, in particular, on the probability of the formation of new-phase nuclei on the surface of dissolving alloy and also on the kinetic parameters of ionization and back deposition of the noble component ions. The uniform dissolution tends to give way to the selective one, and the mechanism of pseudoselective dissolution can serve as the transition, connecting link.
