A proposal for a high-speed PAPA

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento (1955-1965)

Conclusion

The main advantage of the proposed system is its speed, that is far superior to the previous systems.

Using flying spots with the fastest phosphors presently available (P16 E.J.A. decay 0.1 μs at 1/e it is already possibly to build a PAPA with 105 Λ-units per second.

By using an image dissector it is possible to have a PAPA with 108 Λ-units per second.

As a final remark we should like to point out that a PAPA for instant analysis of bubble chamber events, to be employed directly on the chamber, would then be possible.
