An upper bound of 3.2-KP13 cm is obtained for the2S neutron-deuteron scattering length without any detailed knowledge of the nuclear potentials. Certain simple assumptions are made concerning the structure of the S-matrix, and the binding energies of the deuteron and the triton is what is required to obtain the bound
