Elastic scattering of antiprotons by protons at low energies

Summary

The elastic scattering cross-section of antiprotons on protons has been measured in the energy intervals (5/20), (20/40) and (40/60) MeV. The values of the cross-section obtained are (93.7±20), (89.0±15) and (86.5±16) mb, respectively. There appears to be reasonable agreement between the observed angular distributions in the higher-energy intervals and those calculated from the optical model.

Si è misurata la sezione d’urto di scattering elastico degli antiprotoni sui protoni negli intervalli di energia (5/20), (20/40) e (40/60) MeV. I valori della sezione d’urto che si sono ottenuti sono (93.7±20), (89.0±15) e (86.5±16) ml», rispettivamente. Sembra che ci sia un ragionevole accordo fra le distribuzioni angolari osservate negli intervalli di energie più alte e quelle calculate dal modello ottico.
